What is Combat Academy U.K.?
We are a martial arts organisation formed over 35 years ago teaching a mixture of martial arts. We are affiliated to the Cobra Martial Arts Association (C.M.M.A). We currently run 27 different classes in the area, and have over 700 current students. Our senior instructor is Ian Gauldie who has over 30 years experience teaching martial arts and held the British Kickboxing and World Self Defence titles.

What do we do?
We teach four main elements at our sessions: Freestyle Ju-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Ground Fighting and the Filipino Martial Arts, as well as a host of combative concepts from a wide range of other arts. By combining these elements you will learn a broad range of practical techniques, incorporating aspects of many martial arts at the same time.

How much does it cost?
We currently charge £7.00 to £10.00 per session depending on age, with pay monthly options available in some classes. There is an annual fee of £49.50 (Junior), £54.50 (Adult) which covers your membership to the club, and insurance.

Can I pay other ways?
Yes. Some of our Instructors accept payments by Direct Debit and on-line payment systems.

No. You can just turn up to each class. Most of our classes accept beginners at any time (Please see timetable), you are also welcome to watch sessions before attending a class.

No. Just turn up at the most convenient session, there is no need to book at any of the classes.

Are all the classes open to beginners?

You will also learn self defence techniques, a variety of throws and how to be thrown safely, holds, such as arm and leg locks, various types of stretches, also about balance and centre of gravity, the various stances and break falls.

Who teaches the classes?
All our Instructors come from within our school and have been developed through our Instructor programme. We do not 'sub contract' our sessions to out side Instructors from other styles or clubs. All of our Instructors have at least 10 years of experience and are fully qualified, insured and D.B.S checked.

Who attends the classes?
We have members from all areas of the community, all ages and occupations. We have members who simply enjoy a regular workout and the social events, and others who train to compete. Everyone in the club is treated equally with respect and friendship regardless of profession, age, religion, or sex.

Will I get hurt?
No. We teach techniques in a safe environment, on mats, with qualified instructors. We use pads to learn how to kick and punch, and you will only be performing techniques when you are ready and you have been taught how to do them safely.

At the moment it is about 3 to 1. We have several current female black belts and all classes teach both men and women.
