Our Ju-jitsu class on Tuesday has a mixed age, ability and are pretty equally split with guys and gals! A great form of self defence, the class includes Ju-jitsu syllabus with some great street self defence techniques and ground work. It is important to look at a wide range of techniques so you have more at your disposal should you ever need them. We also look at the main area of self defence which is learning how to spot potential incidents and avoiding them. "Self Defence Is Common Sense". It's a friendly atmosphere and newcomers are welcomed and encouraged. The class on Thursday is a 'mixed martial arts class'. It is predominantly sparring utilising Kickboxing AND Ju-jitsu. It involves kicking, punching, takedowns with throws, sweeps, ground work, locks and chokes (for adult advanced practitioners only) all mixed together. Test your postures, use your Ju-jitsu techniques in a practical way whilst being resisted and counter attacked. All sparring is controlled and the emphasis is on learning and not combat. Find your limits of balance and learn to work yourself into the correct positions to maximise the use of angles whilst avoiding or minimising the risk of counter attacks and spoils.
